“Introspection and Sound of Sight” A Free Lincoln Center Institute Performance
Sun, 12 Feb 2012 19:00:00 +0000
Introspection and Sound of Sight split the program for two performances at the Lincoln Center Institute’s Clark Studio Theatre:
Introspection, created by trumpeter Kiah Abendroth, takes the audience on an emotional journey of questioning, reflecting, and personal revelation. The program consists of Charles Ives’s The Unanswered Question and an exciting original work of music and dance, Forest of Mirrors. Throughout the course of the performance, the stage transforms into a colorful forest, and the audience is quickly sucked into a turbulent and shocking story.
Sound of Sight explores the relationship between traditional music and dance from the fascinating perspective of sensory perception. The collaboration between violist Elizabeth Moore and choreographer Hannah Emerson keeps the audience’s awareness of the senses alive. Arrangements of traditional Celtic music of Ireland and Spain are entwined with dynamic, rhythmically patterned choreography as a new, contemporary work emerges.
Kiah Abendroth, Elizabeth Moore and Hannah Emerson are William R. Kenan, Jr. Performing Arts Fellows at Lincoln Canter Institute. The Kenan Fellowship is an initiative of Lincoln Center Institute and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The Fellowship is made possible by generous support from the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust.
